Home Visit Doctor is an independent booking platform and directory that connects private patients looking for home visits with UK trained, GMC-registered General Practitioners. You get a "Practice-in-a-Box" without the need to worry about the infrastructure:

You provide home visits as an independent self-employed contractor. You have complete control over your hours, the postcode areas you cover and your fees.
We provide the medical indemnity, digital and governance infrastructure (CQC, insurances etc) with admin support. This allows you to concentrate on what you do best.

Patient Search: A patient enters their postcode on homevisitdoctor.co.uk.
Doctor Match: The platform shows the GPs who actively cover that specific postcode, displaying their profile, consultation fee and available slots.
Patient Request: Patient will request a doctor and an appointment time and describe their issue
Doctor notified: Once a patient requests an appointment with a doctor, the doctor will receive a notification via email and WhatsApp detailing the patient's location and brief clinical problem.
Doctor accepts/rejects: The doctor will have the option of accepting or rejecting the visit. We recommend a brief call to the patient to ensure there is no red flag symptoms which would warrant advice to go to a&e or call 999 or 111. Furthermore, the doctor should check no chaperone requirement is required.
Admin Team: Once accepted by the GP, the admin team will contact the patient and take payment and confirm the visit.
GP Visit: The GP will visit, take the history and examine the patient and make a management plan and prescribe as appropriate. The GP will document the consultation and upload the notes to the electronic health record (if Tier 2 Partner) or send the notes to the admin team for documentation (if Tier 1 Partner).

To maintain the highest standards of patient safety, clinical excellence, and regulatory compliance, all doctors joining the platform must meet the following mandatory baseline criteria:

MRCGP: Holder of the MRCGP and fully qualified as a practicing GP for a minimum of one year.
GMC & Performers List: Full registration on the GMC GP Register with an active Licence to Practise and inclusion on a UK NHS Performers List.
Up-to-Date Appraisal: Proof of a recent, successful annual GP appraisal that includes 360-degree multi-source feedback (MSF) from both staff and patients.
Full Compliance & Indemnity: A clear Enhanced DBS check (issued within 12 months or active on the Update Service)
Transport: Your own car with Business Class insurance.
Essential Visiting Kit: Stethoscope, BP monitor, Otoscope/Ophthalmoscope, Urine dips, Blood sugar monitor, Thermometer, Pulse Oximeter, and Tendon hammer.

We offer two rolling monthly membership options - both include medical indemnity for the doctor:

You set your own consultation fees depending on the postcode. Furthermore, you can set additional weekend supplements. The fee you set is the cost to the patient. You will receive a percentage of this. Your net earnings depend on the membership tier you select:

Tier 1 Partner: You retain 70% of the total visit fee (30% platform commission).
Tier 2 Partner: You retain 80% of the total visit fee (20% platform commission).

For example: On a £200 home visit, a Tier 1 Partner will earn £140 whilst a Tier 2 Partner will earn £160. The platform retains the difference.

At Home Visit Doctor, doctor and patient safety is our top priority. We do NOT have provision for chaperones for home visits. To manage chaperone requirements safely and pragmatically:

Where possible, the admin team will assign a same-sex doctor to the booking.

Pre-Visit Telephone Triage: You are expected to contact the patient by phone before traveling. If you identify that an intimate examination may be required, discuss this in advance with the patient. Clinical Discretion On-Site: You retain total clinical autonomy. If you arrive and determine that an intimate exam is necessary, but you feel uncomfortable proceeding without a chaperone, you should not perform the exam.
Safe Exit & Cancellation: If a visit cannot continue safely due to chaperone constraints, inform the patient, advise them on appropriate NHS/clinic alternatives, and notify the admin team to cancel the visit. The patient will receive a refund, and your safety decision will be fully supported. You will not receive payment if the patient does not pay a fee.

At Home Visit Doctor, the safety of our patients and doctors is our absolute priority. To reduce the risk of a patient arranging an emergency appointment with red flags, the Admin team will triage for red flags. However, there is always a risk the patient's symptoms will not be recognised, hence we always recommend a brief phone call from the assigned doctor PRIOR to carrying out the visit. If the doctor feels the patient is not appropriate for a primary care visit, they are advised to refer the patient to the appropriate pathway of 999 or 111. The patient will be given a full refund. Of course, if the GP attends the patient's home and then notes the patient is presenting as an acute medical emergency or is deteriorating (e.g. suspected MI, acute stroke, severe sepsis, etc), the doctors duty of care is to stabilise the patient and immediately escalate care as appropriate. All doctors will be expected to have BLS training updated annually.

At Home Visit Doctor, the safety of our patients and doctors is our absolute priority. All patients will be registered on our electronic health record and their details will be verified as they will be contacted by the Admin team and a patient record will be created with email, address and name. Furthermore, we recommend all doctors contact their patients by telephone PRIOR to going for the visit. If the doctor feels uncomfortable with the presentation, they are encouraged to decline the visit and a full refund will be given to the patient. Home Visit Doctor maintains a Lone Worker Policy. The Admin team can be contacted to check-in and check-out. We also recommend that doctors share their location via Whats App messaging with the Admin team and/or any family member, especially for late evening visits.

Yes. As an independent practitioner, you are expected to carry a standard, fully equipped doctor’s diagnostic bag, including:

Stethoscope, otoscope (with disposable tips), and ophthalmoscope
Blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, and thermometer
Tendon hammer
Basic diagnostic consumables (e.g., urine dipsticks, blood glucose meter)
Bottles for urine samples

All clinical notes must be completed and logged within 12 hours of completing a visit. Tier 2 Partners will have access to the Semble EHR system and can enter their notes directly. Tier 1 Partners will submit their notes to the Admin Team via gp@homevisitdoctor.co.uk. The notes need to be anonimised with DOB and patient initials only. Prescriptions will need to be issued manually for Tier 1 Partners. We will provide a Home Visit Doctor prescription template which you would need to print and take on the visits with you. All prescriptions need to be signed and dated with your name in print and your GMC number. For Tier 2 Partners, the prescribing is done on the EHR Semble and can be emailed directly to the pharmacy of choice for the patient or alternatively can be sent to an integrated electronic prescribing system for home deliver (e.g. Healistic or CloudRx etc). Please note that patients will have to pay for their prescriptions, even if they are exempt from prescription fees on the NHS. This is because the pharmacy will charge them to dispense a drug from a Private Prescription. The cost will depend on the cost of the drug and the pharmacy will also add their profit. This should be made clear to the patient at the time of prescribing.

Screening Call: Complete a brief 15-minute administrative check via telephone so we can answer any of your questions and submit your documents
Pre-Activation: Set your postcode coverage, establish your fees, select your membership tier
Clinical screening: One of our clinical team will contact you for a formal discussion about your experience, knowledge and expectations.
Activation: Once all your checks are complete, we will activate you on the platform and start sending you visits.
